500 years, then

On Wednesday I was wondering what we’ll feel stupid about in 50 years. Donald Trump, and Brexit, and our utter failure in climate change. I’ll add antibacterial resistance to that last, and the achingly slow transition to renewable energy.

How about 500 years, though? What will we still regret then? Will Brexit be the start of a long slide into xenophobia our distant descendants will still regret, like the crusades or the burning of witches? Or more like Holland’s tulipmania – damaging and regrettable, but brief?
